The Twits is my favourite from Dahl's books. I chose Mr. Twit in particular because I've always liked men with beards and got married to one with a beard too and when he is obnoxious, he looks like Mr. Twit to me. ;) (sans the food in the beard)

The Twits is one of my favourite  Roald Dahl stories, love them because they are revoltingly smelly, they fight and play horrible tricks on each other, Mrs Twit carries a stick so she can hit things with it, like dogs cats and small children..

I chose my character as I love to make cartoon style fun cakes and the Roly Poly Bird was perfect for this. I also have distinct and vivid memories of reading the Twits and making paper Roly Poly Birds as a child in school.

Nice Witch 

I've been a massive fan of Roald Dahl since I was a little girl, so I was absolutely thrilled to be involved in this amazing project. Even though I love all of Roald Dahl's work, there are a few particular books that have stuck with me over the rest, and one of those was The Witches. Dahl's descriptions of children "smelling like dogs droppings" to the witches, amused my childhood-self no end, and I knew that his vivid depictions of their toeless feet, long clawed fingers, flaring nostrils and bald, spotty heads would make for a great sugar project. I chose to make a model of the assistant witch discarding her "human" disguise in the hotel function hall, as I have always envisioned the scene from Quentin Blake's drawings. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of it.

The Vicar of Nibbleswicke-Carol McHugh

The Vicar

I chose The Vicar of Nibbleswicke as my Cake Dahl piece as it is one of the least know books. Roald Dahl wrote it in the last months of his life and donated the story (and Quentin Blake the illustrations) for the Dyslexia Institute. It is a very funny book where the poor vicar suffers with Back -to-Front Dyslexia. It affects only his speech and his parishioners are shocked and confused by his outrageous comments. Only Roald Dahl can get away with saying "krap" and "pis" in a children's book in such an amusing, childish way.
